Then In May of 1982, the Wisconsin Family Day Care Association (WFDCA) began at the First
Annual Wisconsin Family Day Care Conference in Madison. A steering committee of volunteers
was formed with representatives from each of the six regions in the state.
In the next year, these people worked very hard on by-laws, and became affiliated with
the Wisconsin Early Childhood Association (WECA).
WECA is the state affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
