History

Then
In May of 1982, the Wisconsin Family Day Care Association (WFDCA) began at the First Annual Wisconsin Family Day Care Conference in Madison. A steering committee of volunteers was formed with representatives from each of the six regions in the state.

In the next year, these people worked very hard on by-laws, and became affiliated with the Wisconsin Early Childhood Association (WECA).

WECA is the state affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

Now
  • WFCCA has an officer structure, logo, newsletter and a statewide base.
  • WFCCA holds an annual conference that moves around the state.
  • WFCCA consists of 17 regions.  These are the same 17 regions of the Child Care Resource and Referral Network.
  • Each region has a representative and an alternate.

The name was changed from Wisconsin Family Day Care (WFDCA) to Wisconsin Family Child Care (WFCCA) in 1993 to reflect the professionalism of Family Child Care.
