In May of 1982, the Wisconsin Family Day Care Association (WFDCA) began at the First Annual Wisconsin Family Day Care Conference in Madison. A steering committee of volunteers was formed with representatives from each of the six regions in the state.
In the next year, these people worked very hard on by-laws, and became affiliated with the Wisconsin Early Childhood Association (WECA).
WECA is the state affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
The name was changed from Wisconsin Family Day Care (WFDCA) to Wisconsin Family Child Care (WFCCA) in 1993 to reflect the professionalism of Family Child Care.
Wisconsin Family Child Care Association provides support, education, communication, and resources to family child care providers, families, and community members, while promoting professionalism and advocating within the early childhood field to provide quality care for children.
